For the launchd jobs, read on. Note that the following will also disable Adobe automatic update checking. So you will need to check for updates from inside one of the Adobe apps or explicitly run Adobe Create Cloud.
Here, you'll find a list of the Creative Cloud apps that are currently installed on your computer. The specific apps available to you will depend on your Creative Cloud subscription. Any apps that have an update available will appear in an UPDATES section at the top of the list. Each one will show a big blue Update button to the right of its name. In my case, I have several apps (9 in total), including Photoshop, that need to be updated:
To update an app, simply click its Update button. Or, if you have several apps that need to be updated, you can save time by clicking the Update All link. To keep things simple here, I'll just update Photoshop itself by clicking its Update button:
You could also just remove and uninstall the Adobe software that is causing the update manager to appear, but that is not always an option for some users and some apps. You can usually get rid of Adobe Reader with little consequence, but if your job relies on other Adobe Creative Suite apps then it would not be a solution.
When Adobe Creative Cloud won't open, install or update apps like Photoshop CC, Lightroom, Illustrator CC, you need to uninstall Creative Cloud and reinstall it to fix the error. However, Adobe Creative Cloud won't uninstall with errors such as "couldn't uninstall Creative Cloud for desktop", "uninstallation of Creative Cloud desktop completed with errors".
Adobe Creative Cloud is required to install, update or sync Creative Cloud apps. When you try to uninstall Adobe CC for desktop without uninstalling the CC apps beforehand, the error pops up: "couldn't uninstall Creative Cloud for desktop. You still have Creative Cloud applications installed on your computer that require it." However, sometimes, Creative Cloud couldn't open and you won't be able to uninstall CC apps from the CC desktop, and that's why you want to uninstall Creative Cloud desktop. That's how many users struck.
Can I Uninstall Creative Cloud and Keep Photoshop?Yes. If you have purchased the Creative Cloud photographer plan or the single app plan, you may want to remove the Creative Cloud for the desktop app and keep only the Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, etc. That's totally fine. Creative Cloud for desktop is only for install or update CC apps. you can continue to use Photoshop, Lightroom or other CC apps without CC desktop app with no hassle. Only that you won't be able to get the latest update of CC apps in time and will need internet access to verify the validity of your license for a certain period of time.
Adobe Creative Cloud has been sitting in my menu bar for a while letting me know that I had updates. Problem was, every time I would open the Creative Cloud app to update my apps, it would just hang there, stuck and show a blue spinning wheel. After doing a quick search online, I found the solution to the problem on the Adobe forums.
Adobe says that Pantone Color Books will be phased out of Adobe Creative Cloud apps, starting with updates to Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop released after August 16, 2022. After November 2022, only three Pantone Color Books will remain: Pantone + CMYK Coated, Pantone + CMYK Uncoated, and Pantone + Metallics Coated. To access all other Pantone Color Libraries, Creative Cloud users will need to purchase a Pantone Connect license and access the libraries through the Pantone Connect plug-in. Pantone Connect costs $59.99 per year or $7.99 per month. For the most part, existing files should continue to work as before, although Adobe offers details of how files in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop may be affected.
